UTSA begins 2023 home slate with pair of weekend matchups

New Orleans: 2/3 – 1 p.m.
Cal Santa Barbara: 2/5 – 11 a.m.

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men's tennis team will return to the court this weekend as it kicks off its 2023 home slate with a pair of weekend matchups. The Roadrunners will face New Orleans on Friday with action starting at 1 p.m. and will then face UCSB on Sunday morning with action beginning at 11 a.m.

UTSA spent the last week idle after opening its 2023 spring campaign with a pair of tough road losses to No. 7 Texas and (RV) Oklahoma. The Roadrunners were swept across the board against both the Longhorns and Sooners and will look to pick up their first match win of the year this weekend. UTSA sits at 0-12 in singles action and is 0-4 in doubles play.

New Orleans – UTSA has faced off with New Orleans twice before with the previous pair of matchups coming in Louisiana. The Roadrunners are 2-0 against New Orleans, winning 4-0 in 2019 and 6-1 in 2010.

Cal Santa Barbara – The Roadrunners and the Gauchos have met just once in both program's history. The two teams met on Feb. 5, 2022, where UCSB came away with a 6-1 victory in a matchup that took place in Santa Barbara, Calif.
