SAN ANTONIO — Jordyn Jenkins led three Roadrunners in double figures with 22 points and UTSA remained perfect at home with a 76-69 victory over Idaho on Saturday afternoon at the Convocation Center.
Jenkins logged her third 20-point output in the last four games to help the Roadrunners improve to 2-0 at home and 2-5 on the season. The junior transfer from USC was 8 of 13 from the floor and she added seven rebounds, four assists, three steals and a block.
Jenkins was joined in double figures by Sidney Love, who poured in a season-high 17 including a 7-for-7 effort at the free-throw line, and Queen Ulabo, who drained four 3-pointers en route to 15 points, also a season best.
In a game that featured eight lead changes and five ties, UTSA used a bit run late in the first half to build a cushion and run past the Vandals, who fell to 2-6.
Trailing by six after the first quarter, Idaho opened the second period with 10 unanswered points to race out to a 24-18 advantage.
UTSA closed the gap with threes from Ulabo and Love sandwiched around a Jenkins layup to reclaim the lead, 26-24.
After the visitors went back up 28-26 on a Rosa Smith layup, the Roadrunners reeled off an 11-0 run over the final 2:45 of the first half to build a 37-28 advantage at the break.
UTSA pushed the advantage into double digits early in the second half and eventually to 49-32 at the 6:55 mark after Jenkins buried a jumper from downtown.
The lead ballooned to 19 after Love connected from the left corner to make it 65-46 with 6:16 left to play, as the Roadrunners held off the Vandals down the stretch for their first win in the all-time series.
Idaho's Sydney Grady scored 23 behind eight 3-pointers while Beyonce Bea posted a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds.
The Roadrunners will return to action at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, when they make the short trip across town to face UIW.
