DALLAS —Jack Wehman has been named Conference USA Men's Golfer of the Week for his performance in the Saint Mary's Invitational on Oct. 31-Nov. 2 in Pebble Beach, the league office announced on Wednesday.
The sophomore tied for 12th place with a 2-over-par 213 to help the Roadrunners post an 883 (295-294-294) and finish two shots ahead of Washington State (885) and four in front of No. 39 BYU (887).
Wehman turned in his top finish of the season on the strength of 11 birdies on the par-71 Poppy Hills Golf Course layout.
After opening with a 71, the Austin Vandegrift High School product fired a season-best 70 in the second round and then closed with a 74 that featured three birdies. He was only one shot out of a tie for ninth and two behind a deadlock for seventh place.
This marks Wehman's first career C-USA Golfer of the Week award and it is the first of the season for the Roadrunners, who will return to the course on Jan. 30-31 at the Sea Best Invitational at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
