SAN ANTONIO — UTSA head coach Summer Batiste on Wednesday announced that she has signed Maria Bastarrica to a National Letter of Intent. The standout from Spain will join the Roadrunners starting with the 2023-24 season.

She'll fit in well to our culture with the disciplined, competitive and growth-mindset approach she brings to the game. There's no doubt that she'll make an immediate impact on our program, as we strive for success in the American Athletic Conference."

Standout junior golfer from Spain … competed for Blume in the Spanish Federation … Copa Federación Vasca champion … won the 2022 Copa Federacion Cantabra with a 69-68—137 … medalist at the Copa Club de Campo Sojuela Cup and Campeonato de Jaizkibel … placed 23rd in the 2021 Spanish U-18 Championship at the age of 16 … played in the Spanish International Stroke Play Championship in 2021 and 2022 … has played for the Basque Team since 2017 … shot a 74-77—151 to help the squad place fifth in the 2022 Spanish Regional Federations Championship stroke play and seventh after the conclusion of match play … also an excellent student who is ranked No. 1 academically in her senior class at Colegio Leones-Blume.
