SAN ANTONIO — UTSA Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Aaron Fox announced on Tuesday that the program has signed Edlin Laur to a National Letter of Intent. The Tallinn, Estonia, native will join the Roadrunners beginning with the 2023-24 season.
"We're excited to get our signing class started off on the right foot with an outstanding addition in Edlin Laur," Fox said. "She has developed into one of Estonia's best up-and-coming multi-eventers. We can't wait to get her to campus and see the type of impact she will have on our program."
A standout in the jumps and multi-events, Laur owns personal bests of 1.80 meters (5-10.75) in the high jump, 6.10m (20-0.25) in the long jump and 4,776 points in the heptathlon.
Laur was the bronze medalist in the high jump at the 2022 Estonian U-20 Indoor and Outdoor Championships, clearing 1.72m (5-7.75) and 1.69m (5-6.5), respectively. She went on to place fifth at the Estonian national indoor meet with a 1.70m (5-7) clearance and was third by topping 1.77m (5-9.75) at the Baltic U-20 Indoor Championships. She posted her PB of 1.80m at the Baltic U-20 Indoor Combined Events and claimed top honors at the regional indoor meet with a 1.75m (5-8.75) effort.
She claimed bronze in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 6.10m at the 2022 Estonian Outdoor Championships and she also won the regional title in the event with a 5.81m (19-0.75) mark.
Laur finished fourth in the heptathlon at the Baltic U-20 Combined Events with her PB total of 4,776 points and also tallied 4,412 to place third at the Estonian U-20 meet. Indoors, she was the U-20 national runner-up in the pentathlon with 3,308 points.
