DALLAS – Newcomer Jordyn Jenkins earned her first Conference USA Player of the Week honor, announced the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Jenkins is the first Roadrunner to earn a weekly conference accolade since teammate Elyssa Coleman earned Freshman of the Week last season on Nov. 22, 2021. Although this is her first C-USA weekly award, Jenkins also earned a weekly conference award once when playing at USC - on Feb. 14, 2022, when she was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week.
This past week at the Las Vegas Invitational, Jenkins led UTSA in points against Missouri State and St. John's while averaging 23.50 points on the week. In a 71-54 loss to the Lady Bears, she put up a season-high 22 points. The Kent, Wash., then beat that season high 25 points in a close 69-64 loss to St. John's the day after. Jenkins also recorded a season-high nine rebounds and a career-high four steals against St. John's. Jenkins has led the team in points in four of UTSA's five games so far this season.
