SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA men's golf team will travel to Pebble Beach, California, to compete in the Saint Mary's Invitational on Monday-Wednesday, Oct. 31-Nov. 2, at Poppy Hills Golf Course (par 71/7,091 yards).
The Roadrunners will line up against BYU, Chattanooga, Colorado State, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Loyola Marymount, Nevada, Northern Illinois, Pacific, Sacramento State, Saint Mary's, San Diego, Santa Clara, UC Santa Barbara and Washington State.
The field will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday with tee times starting at 10:20 a.m. Central time each day.
The two-day tournament will wrap up the fall slate for the Roadrunners, who are coming off a sixth-place finish at The Clerico on Oct. 24-25 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Hunter Bott tied for 13th place with a 6-over-par 146 that included a 1-under 70 in the first round to lead the way, while Christian Fanfelle and David Harrison placed 24th (75-74—149) and 30th (71-79—150), respectively in the event that was shortened to 36 holes due to weather.
Fanfelle paces UTSA with a 71.0 stroke average this season and the senior from San Antonio owns eight par-or-better scorecards in 11 total rounds. Bott ranks second on the squad with a 73.0 mark, while Harrison boasts a 73.09 scoring average.
This will mark the first appearance for UTSA in the Saint Mary's Invitational and the program's first visit to Pebble Beach. The Roadrunners last played in the Golden State last season when they finished eighth at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate on March 2-4 in Palm Desert.
