DALLAS — UTSA quarterback Frank Harris has been named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season following his record-setting performance in the 45-30 win at Middle Tennessee, the league office announced Monday.
Harris broke his own single-game school records for passing yards and total offense for the second straight week to lead UTSA to the road victory against the Blue Raiders in the C-USA opener on Friday night. Harris completed 27 of 36 passes for 414 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 31 yards and a pair of scores to help the offense churn out a season-high 590 yards, the most since the Roadrunners registered a school-record 624 versus North Texas on Nov. 29, 2020.
Harris reached the 300-yard mark through the air before halftime, notching his fourth 300-yard game of the season and seventh of his career, both school records. He also eclipsed the UTSA standard for career passing yards on Friday night, as his 7,017 have moved him past Eric Soza's 6,952.
Harris leads the FBS in total offense (383.4 ypg) and he ranks second nationally in passing yards (1,724), seventh in completions per game (26.2) and 10th in points responsible for (98). The Schertz Clemens High School product now owns more than 30 UTSA records and is one of only 11 active FBS quarterbacks with 7,000-plus passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards in a career.
This marks Harris' sixth career C-USA Offensive Player of the Week honor and it is the fourth received by a Roadrunner this season, as Jared Sackett picked up the special teams accolade on Sept. 5.
Harris also was chosen as one of eight Manning Award "Stars of the Week" and fans can vote for the weekly winner on the Allstate Sugar Bowl Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/allstatesugarbowl.
North Texas defensive back Ridge Texada earned the defensive player of the week nod and UTEP kicker Gavin Baechle received the special teams award. The C-USA Player of the Week awards are presented by Blenders Eyewear.
The Roadrunners will host Western Kentucky in a rematch of last year's C-USA Championship Game on Saturday, Oct. 8. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. at the Alamodome and the game will air on ESPN+ and Ticket 760 AM.
