DALLAS — UTSA senior Camryn Carreon has been named Conference USA Women's Golfer of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.
Carreon posted her 10th career top-10 finish after firing a 3-under-par 213 to lead the Roadrunners to 14th place in a field of eight nationally ranked teams at the Jim West Challenge this week at Kissing Tree Golf Club in San Marcos, Texas.
After opening the 54-hole event with a 74-72—146 on Sunday, the San Antonio native matched her collegiate-best score with a 5-under-par 67 that featured seven birdies, tying the second-lowest round in program history in the process. The San Antonio native moved up 16 places in the individual standings on the final day, ending up with a share of eighth place for her second top 10 of the fall slate.
Carreon equaled the 67 she registered in the final round of the 2022 NCAA Franklin Regional, which vaulted her into fourth place and a berth into the NCAA Championships as the first Roadrunner to advance that far in the postseason. She had five of her birdies as part of a 33 on the front nine and finished this week with a team-high 12 birdies, the third-best total in the field.
The C-USA Golfer of the Week awards are presented by Blenders Eyewear.
