SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA women's golf team will wrap up the fall schedule on Sunday-Monday, Oct. 23-24, at the Jim West Challenge hosted by Texas State at Kissing Tree Golf Club (par 72/6,163 yards).
The Roadrunners will compete against Colorado, Houston, Missouri, New Mexico, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, SMU, TCU, Texas State, Texas Tech, Tulane, Tulsa and UNLV in the two-day, 54-hole tournament.
The field will play 36 holes on Sunday and 18 on Monday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start scheduled for both days. ESPN+ will air coverage of both days starting at noon Sunday and 9 a.m. Monday.
UTSA is coming off a tie for 10th place at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational on Oct. 17-18 in Lawrence, Kansas. Morgan Ellison grabbed a share of 33rd to guide the Roadrunners to a tie with Boston College and Washington State in the two-day tournament that was shortened to 45 holes.
Ellison paces UTSA with a 73.83 stroke average this fall. She logged her top career finish of 10th after firing a 2-over-par 218 at the Dale McNamara Invitational.
Camryn Carreon is right behind her teammate with a 74.78 average and a pair of top-20 showings, while Daniela Abonce owns a 74.87 mark and a top finish of 16th at the Dale McNamara.
The Roadrunners have played in the Jim West Challenge four times previously, last in 2019 when Ana Gonzalez tied for 38th to lead UTSA to a tie for 12th. The top finish in the event was eighth in 2017 behind a top-10 showing from Julie Houston.
