Roadrunners add transfer Jackson Ross

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA head tennis coach Sergey Avdeyev has announced the addition of Auburn transfer Jackson Ross. Ross was rated as the No. 3 prospect out of Texas (Blue Chip) and a top 20 recruit nationally in 2020.
 
Ross returns home to the Alamo City as he attended Laurel Springs High School before beginning his collegiate career at Auburn. In high school, he trained with FIT HP Tennis Academy and had his serve clocked at 115 mph.
 
In his two seasons at Auburn, Ross's highest ITF Ranking was #272 and his best win came over 49th-ranked Natan Rodrigues (6-1, 6-4) of Louisville. Ross has notched three ITF doubles titles and e and his Auburn teammate were Bulldawg Invitational A Draw Doubles Champions.
 
In singles competition at Auburn, Ross held a 13-6 record and his Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) got as high as 12.88. His current UTR sits at 12.23.
 
When asked about Ross, Avdeyev says, "We are excited to welcome Jackson to our team. UTSA has not had any blue-chip prospects in its history and we are excited to see a Texas talent recognizing opportunity here at UTSA." Avdeyev continued, "It just shows where our program stands and where it is headed that we can attract a former top-20 prospect."
