Harris repeats as C-USA Offensive Player of the Week

DALLAS — UTSA quarterback Frank Harris has been named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, the league office announced Monday.

Harris posted his second consecutive 300-yard passing game to help UTSA rally for a 41-38 overtime win at Army last Saturday in West Point, New York. The senior quarterback completed 32 of 45 passes for 359 yards — just eight yards shy of the school record — and three touchdowns and added 30 yards on the ground, as the Roadrunners churned out 512 yards of offense on 81 plays against the Black Knights.

Harris completed passes to six different players, including a pair that topped the century mark for the second straight game in Zakhari Franklin (122) and Joshua Cephus (112). He led UTSA back from a 14-point second-half deficit with three touchdown drives in a row, as the Roadrunners eventually took a 35-28 lead late in the contest. In overtime, he found De'Corian Clark open in the left corner of the end zone for the game-winning touchdown pass.

The national leader in total offense at 394.5 yards per game, Harris currently paces C-USA and ranks sixth nationally with 348.0 passing yards per game, and his six passing TDs stand 10th among FBS players. He has thrown for 5,989 yards and 48 touchdowns on 548-of-827 passing (.660) and rushed for 1,313 yards and 16 TDs as a Roadrunner. He is one of only 12 active FBS quarterbacks who have passed for more than 5,000 yards and rushed for at least 1,000 yards.

This marks Harris' fifth career C-USA Offensive Player of the Week honor and it is the third received by a Roadrunner this season, as Jared Sackett picked up the special teams accolade last week.

Middle Tennessee defensive lineman Quindarius Dunnigan earned the defensive player of the week nod and UTEP kicker Gavin Baechle received the special teams award. The C-USA Player of the Week awards are presented by Blenders Eyewear.

The Roadrunners will travel to Austin to face No. 20/21 Texas on Saturday, Sept. 17. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium and the game will air on Longhorn Network and Ticket 760 AM.
