SAN ANTONIO – UTSA dropped its second and final exhibition match of the season, falling to Baylor 2-1 on Sunday night.
Kendall Kloza netted UTSA's lone goal, heading a cross into the back right corner of the net off of a Kiran Singh pass in the third minute of the match. Kloza scored first in both of UTSA's exhibition matches and both goals came in the third minute.
A few minutes later in the first half, Baylor got its first goal across in the seventeenth minute as Ashley Merrill scored off of a Blythe Obar assist.
Following Merrill's goal, the two teams traded possessions and shots until late in the first half. Then, late in the first half, Baylor struck for the second time as Merrill was able to find the back of the net again, this time off of a Sarah Hornyak pass.
The score stood 2-1 heading into the half and would remain that way through the rest of the game. UTSA outshot the Bears 11-8 and had three more corner kicks, but was unable to overcome Merrill's two first-half goals.
