UTSA trio named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars

NORMAN, Okla. — UTSA's Hunter Bott, Christian Fanfelle and David Harrison have been named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars for their performance on the course and in the classroom, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced this week.

Fanfelle collected his third career All-America Scholar award and Bott was honored for the second straight year, while Harrison picked up his first certificate.

That trio helped lead the Roadrunners to the 2021 Lone Star Invitational title and a runner-up finish at the 2022 Conference USA Championship. It marked the second time in the last three league tournaments that UTSA advanced to the championship match.

Bott is a three-time C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll member who boasts a 3.44 GPA as a business management major. He registered a 73.72 stroke average and four top-10 finishes during his junior campaign. The Montgomery, Texas, native earned All-Conference USA Tournament accolades after finishing fourth with a 3-under-par 213 during stroke play at the league tournament. He shared medalist honors with Michael Rome after posting an even-par 216 at the Lone Star Invitational last September, and he also finished fourth with a 7-under 209 at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate to help guide UTSA to a runner-up showing and fifth with a 1-under 143 at the All-American Intercollegiate.

A four-time C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll member, Fanfelle earned his bachelor's degree in accounting in May 2021 and totes a 3.66 GPA in the master of business administration program. He posted a 73.47 stroke average and three top-10 finishes in his senior season. The San Antonio native fired a 6-under-par 210 to tie for fifth at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate. He was eighth at the Lone Star Invitational and again at the Bentwater Intercollegiate after carding a 1-over 214. He is a two-time all-conference performer and a 2019 C-USA All-Freshman Team selection.

Harrison has made the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll three times and owns a 3.62 GPA while studying finance. The Trophy Club, Texas, native recorded a 75.59 stroke average while playing in 11 events as a junior. A member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, he tied for 13th at the Lone Star Invitational to help lead UTSA to the team title and his 28th-place finish after firing a 1-over 217 helped guide the Roadrunners to a runner-up showing at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate.

The three honorees this year give UTSA a total of 16 during the 14-year tenure of John Knauer, who retired following the 2021-22 campaign.

To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically. In addition, they must participate in 50 percent of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative career GPA of 3.2.
