Riley Grunberg tabbed C-USA Spring Spirit of Service Award winner

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA softball standout Riley Grunberg has been selected one of 13 winners of the Conference USA Spring Spirit of Service Award, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. 
 
Grunberg, a senior infielder out of Corpus Christi, Texas, is a first-team All-Conference USA selection in 2022 and finished her career ranking in the UTSA top 20 in home runs, extra-base hits, RBI and walks. 
 

Off the field, Grunberg has been active in the community while sporting a 3.81 GPA as a mechanical engineering major. She serves as the secretary for the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) Executive Board and is a C-USA SAAC representative along with serving as the Softball SAACCC representative for the last three seasons. 
 
She has been a member of the Rowdy Readers, volunteered with CANtoberfest, the Miracle League and the San Antonio foodbank. 
 
She earned a spot on the 2022 CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, is a two-time C-USA All-Academic selection, four-time C-USA Commissioners Honor Roll and Academic Medal honoree and named to the UTSA Dean's List all four years.
 
The C-USA Spirit of Service Award Winners are selected three times throughout the year and Tuesday's honorees representing baseball, men's and women's golf, outdoor track and field, softball, men's and women's tennis and beach volleyball. 
 
In the fall, UTSA volleyball senior Mia Ybarra was selected as a winner of the Spirit of Service Award for the Roadrunners. In the winter, junior track & field standout Alanah Yukich won the C-USA Spirit of Service Award. Last spring, softball pitcher Madison Nelson received the C-USA Spirit of Service Award.
