SAN ANTONIO -- UTSA associate head coach Mike Peck has been tabbed among the most influential mid-major assistant coaches in college basketball in a ranking of 84 assistants by Silver Waves Media, it was announced.

Peck, in his seventh year as UTSA's associate head coach, was among the 84 assistant coaches listed in a ranking of the most influential assistant coaches in mid-major college basketball.

A native of Gaylord, Mich., Peck serves as UTSA's guard player development coach, while helping supervise all aspects of Coach Steve Henson's Roadrunner program. He had a prolific four seasons while leading UTSA's guards, which featured scoring dynamos Jhivvan Jackson and Keaton Wallace from 2017-21.

Jackson and Wallace finished their careers as two of the top scorers in college basketball history, ranking No. 1 and No. 2 in program history, and ranking as the No. 2 scoring duo from the same recruiting class in NCAA history. Jackson won three consecutive Conference USA scoring crowns, the first player in league history to accomplish that feat, with Wallace joining Jackson as a 2,000 point scorer. Jackson – who averaged 26.9 points per game as a junior – finished his career ranked as the 52nd all-time scorer in NCAA history.

Peck has helped lead a steady turnaround of the Roadrunners program, including a 20-15 record in his second season in San Antonio that included a fifth-place finish in C-USA. In 2018-19, UTSA finished second in C-USA with a guard-laden lineup that ranked 19th in the NCAA in pace of play.

The Roadrunners finished the 2020-21 season with a 15-11 mark, including a 9-7 record in league play, claiming wins in 10 of their final 13 games as the era with Jackson and Wallace came to an end.

In 2021, Peck was one of 12 participants around collegiate men's and women's basketball for the Next Up Head Coaches Training Initiative by the Rising Coaches Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Alliance.

Peck's coaching experience includes all levels of basketball, including collegiate seasons at Santa Clara (2015-16), UNLV (2003-06), Saginaw Valley [Mich.] State (1998-2003), Northwood University (1997-98).

He is the winningest coach in the storied history of the Findlay Prep basketball program, where he served as the head coach in the Las Vegas area.
