Half dozen Roadrunners named to DCTF Preseason Team

LEWISVILLE, Texas — UTSA has placed six players on the 2022 Dave Campbell's Texas Football Preseason All-Texas College Team, which was unveiled in this year's edition of the magazine.

Wide receiver Zakhari Franklin and safety Rashad Wisdom both earned a spot on the first team, while wide receiver Joshua Cephus, punter Lucas Dean, linebacker Trevor Harmanson and offensive lineman Ahofitu Maka landed on the second squad.

UTSA's six selections are the third most behind only Texas A&M (8) and Houston (7) among the 12 FBS teams in the state.

Coming off a record-setting 12-2 campaign last fall, UTSA will open its 12th season of play and third under 2021 C-USA Coach of the Year Jeff Traylor on Sept. 3 against Houston. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. at the Alamodome in a game that will be televised nationally on CBS Sports Network.

Other home contests include Texas Southern (Sept. 24), Western Kentucky (Oct. 8), North Texas (Oct. 22), Louisiana Tech (Nov. 12) and UTEP (Nov. 26).
