Roadrunners fall to Owls

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic claimed the series over the UTSA with a walk-off run in game three Sunday afternoon.
 
Kat Ibarra opened the game with a leadoff home run to put the Roadrunners on the board. Camryn Robillard followed with a walk. With one out, Marena Estell singled to right field as Robillard advanced to third. Erykah Guerrero reached on an error and Emily Dear singled to center field as Estell and Robillard scored to lead 3-0.
 
Over the next four innings, both teams left a total of seven runners stranded as UTSA held onto the lead.
 
The Owls got on the board in the six with two unearned runs to make it a one-run game, 3-2.
 
In the bottom of the seventh, FAU scored two more runs (4-3) on a throwing error to clinch the game.
 
Jamie Gilbert earned the start, pitching 5.2 innings with four strikeouts. Estell came in for the final 0.2 innings.
 
UTSA recorded six hits on the day.
 
The Roadrunners return to the field next weekend when they host FIU to close out the regular-season.
