Yukich receives C-USA Spirit of Service Award

DALLAS — UTSA junior Alanah Yukich has received the Conference USA Spirit of Service Award, as the league announced its award winners for winter sports on Thursday. 
 
The C-USA Spirit of Service award honors student-athletes with significant community service endeavors, good academic standing and participation in their sport. The award is presented three times throughout the season, with Thursday's honorees representing indoor track & field, swimming & diving and basketball. Recipients are nominated by their institutions.
 
A standout for the UTSA track & field program, Yukich volunteers her time with the San Antonio Food Bank, CANtoberfest, Roadrunners Give Back, Roadrunner Days and San Antonio Fashion Week. She is part of the Roadrunner Excellence and Leadership Institute and currently serves as the publicist on the UTSA SAAC e-Board while also being a team captain. 
 
A four-time C-USA medalist, Yukich has emerged as one of the team's top hurdlers and quarter-milers. She was a member of UTSA's 4x400-meter relay team that finished third at the 2022 C-USA Indoor Championships. She won the 100m hurdles in 13.98 seconds at the Roadrunner Invitational and she has posted a season-best time of 58.46 in her specialty event, the 400m hurdles. 
 
Last year, Yukich was the C-USA silver medalist in the 400m hurdles with a personal-best time of 57.00 and she advanced to the second stage of the event at the NCAA West Preliminary Round. She earned the bronze medal in the 60m hurdles and helped the 4x4 to third place at the 2021 C-USA Indoor.
 
Yukich has been named to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll in each of her years at UTSA. The Perth, Australia, product earned her bachelor's degree in December of 2021 and is now working toward her master's degree in science and business.
