Roadrunners shut out Islanders Tuesday evening

SAN ANTONIO – Two-run homers from Riley Grunberg and Kaitlyn Morado helped the Roadrunners shutout the Islanders 6-0 Tuesday evening at Roadrunner Field.
 
UTSA was on the board early with runs in the second. With two outs, Morado singled up the middle. Erykah Guerrero followed with a single to left field as Morado reached scoring position. Lauren Coerver earned a walk to load the bases. Ciarra Mata singled to right center as Guerrero and Morado scored to lead 2-0. A foul out ended the inning.
 
The Roadrunners added two more runs in the third to extend the lead. Camryn Robillard opened with a single to left field. Riley Grunberg smacked the ball over the scoreboard, hitting the roof of the dorm, to score Robillard and lead 4-0.
 
In the fifth, UTSA clinched the win with a pair of runs. Marena Estell earned a walk. With one out, Morado homered to center field to push the lead to six (6-0). A flyout and a popup ended the inning.
 
Kloey Harlson earned the start, pitching 4.0 innings and picking up her first career win. Alexa Williams came in the for last three innings and recorded four strikeouts.
 
UTSA posted nine hits on the day with Morado leading the team with three.
 
The Roadrunners return to the field this weekend when they host North Texas for a three-game series.
