Wallace leads G League squad into playoffs

SAN ANTONIO -- UTSA men's basketball great Keaton Wallace has helped lead his Agua Caliente Clippers squad to the NBA G-League Playoffs. The Clippers, who earned the No. 2 seed, will face the winner of the sixth seeded Santa Cruz Warriors vs. the three-seeded South Bay Lakers in the NBA G-League Quarterfinals at 9 p.m. CT on Thursday on NBA TV. 
 
A native of Dallas, Texas, Wallace completed his rookie season for the affiliate of the Los Angeles Clippers. He averaged 18.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.6 steals per game as a rookie. He shot 46.7 percent from the field, 41.3 percent from 3-point range and 82.5 percent from the foul line. 
 
Wallace, a product of Richardson High School, starred for the Roadrunners from 2017-21, where he exited as the second all-time leading scorer with 2,080 career points, checking in 428th in college basketball history and sixth in Conference USA annals. As a senior in 2020-21, Wallace averaged 16.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game, averaged 18.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per game as a junior, 20.2 points and 5.0 rebounds per game as a sophomore and 11.4 points and 3.1 rebounds per game as a freshman. 
 
He checks in among the UTSA record holders in scoring, seventh in average (16.8), third in games played (125), fourth in starts (109) third in free-throw percentage (80.6), seventh in free-throws (304), second in field goals (715), ninth in rebounds (554) and sixth in assists (355). 
 
Wallace, who had a career-high 45 points at Marshall as a sophomore, was an all-conference selection in all four seasons, was a two-time NABC All-District selection and a five-time C-USA Player of the Week.
