SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's tennis team defeated Prairie View A&M 5-2 on Sunday afternoon at the UTSA Tennis Center. This win marks the second match win of the season for the Roadrunners.
The Roadrunners swept the doubles play with three wins to claim the point. At No. 3, Alexandra Weir and Eva Beyebach defeated their opponents 6-2. Aleksandra Zlatarova and Stanislava Bobrovnikova were victorious against their opponents at No. 2, winning their match 6-3. At No. 1, Sophie Omoworare and Jasmin Starr rounded out the doubles play for UTSA with a 7-6 (7-2) tie-breaking win.
UTSA led 1-0 going into the singles matches. Four back-to-back wins for the Roadrunners secured the win. Zlatarova defeated her opponent 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1. Starr claimed a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2. At No. 3, Bobrovnikova bested her opponent in a close 6-3, 6-4 match. Concluding match play for the Roadrunners at No. 4, Beyebach closed out her opponent with a 6-2, 6-2 win as UTSA won 5-2.
The Roadrunner will be back on the court for a pair of matches at the UTSA Tennis Center against New Mexico State on April 8 at 1 p.m. and Lamar on April 10 at 11 a.m.
