SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA track & field teams will travel to College Station on Saturday, April 30, for the Alumni Muster, which will be hosted by Texas A&M at E.B. Cushing Stadium.
The Roadrunners will compete against athletes from Houston Baptist, Lamar, LeTourneau, Louisiana Tech, Oklahoma, Rice, Sam Houston, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas A&M-Kingsville, UT Arlington and UTRGV in their final tune-up for the Conference USA Outdoor Championships, which they will host on May 12-15 at Park West Athletics Complex. This will mark UTSA's fifth trip to Aggieland this calendar year, including the most recent visit earlier this month for the 44 Farms Team Invitational.
The Alumni Muster will get underway with field events beginning at 4 p.m. with running events slated for a 5:30 p.m. start.
UTSA won three events at last Saturday's J. Fred Duckett Twilight in Houston. Ingeborg Gruenwald claimed gold in the women's long jump, Sigrid Kleive took top honors in the women's javelin and Jemuel Miller soared to victory in the men's triple jump.
Gruenwald led a 1-2 UTSA finish in the long jump, leaping 6.36 meters (20-10.5) to register her fourth triumph in the event this year. The second-team indoor All-American logged her top jump of the competition on her second trip down the runway to finish ahead of sophomore teammate Oreoluwa Adamson, who measured 5.93m (19-5.5) for runner-up positioning.
Meanwhile, Kleive tossed the javelin 41.52m (136-2) for her second win of the outdoor campaign.
Miller also cruised to victory on Saturday evening, as the freshman from Barbados broke the sand at a distance of 15.57m (51-1) on his sixth and final attempt of the competition.
Last year at the Alumni Muster, Marilis Remmel broke her own school record in the javelin with a toss of 47.65m (156-4), while Sam Healy and Jack Turner finished 2-3 in the men's long jump to highlight UTSA action before thunderstorms forced the cancellation of the remainder of the meet, including all running events.
