SAN ANTONIO – UTSA football video coordinator Alex Nicasio has been tabbed the Conference USA Video Coordinator of the Year by the Collegiate Sports Video Association, it was announced this week.
"There are a lot of hard-working people who contribute behind the scenes in our operation, and Alex and his crew are incredibly vital to our success," head football coach Jeff Traylor said. "These folks are selfless with their time and effort each day in helping elevate the UTSA football program. I am extremely proud of Alex and his team, and this award is a reflection of their hard work and dedication."
Nicasio and his staff, including production assistants Joshua Guerra and Allison Maguire, are assisted by a strong undergraduate student staff in providing for all the video needs of the UTSA coaching staff. They acquire and provide all coaching video, including on UTSA and its opponents, and have taken on additional roles including in-game and practice still photos and producing pregame hype videos for social media channels.
"I am truly grateful to my peers for selecting me for this award," Nicasio said. "I must thank my staff for showing up every day and striving toward a common goal with enthusiasm and excitement. They make work more like play and we experienced a season to remember. I don't believe any of this would have been possible without the great student staff, video assistants, coaching staff and football team that I get to serve and learn from every day."
The Roadrunners had a historic 2021 season that saw them win 12 games, earn their first top-25 national ranking, capture the first conference championship in program history and earn a berth in their second consecutive and third overall bowl game.
