Aston signs local Brandeis HS talent Alexis Parker

SAN ANTONIO - UTSA women's basketball head coach Karen Aston announced the signing of Alexis Parker.

"Our own San Antonian, Alexis Parker will always be very special to the building of this program with Hometown Heroes," Aston said. "Lex fits our style of play perfectly and is a proven winner in every area of her life. She comes from winning cultures in both high school under Coach Jennifer Brewer, and club basketball, with Ray Caldwell. Lex has a high motor and can play and guard multiple positions. She adds versatility to our guard play and will be able to transition to the culture we are building here with ease."

Parker comes to UTSA after playing four years at Brandeis High School. At Brandeis, Parker helped the Broncos to three playoff runs, including a fifth-round playoff appearance her sophomore season and were four-time Northside Tournament champions. She averaged 12 points per game during her high school career.

"Alexis is one of the sweetest, most genuine kids I have ever coached, but when she steps on the floor she is a beast," Brandeis HS head coach Jennifer Brewer said. "She makes everyone around her better and is the true definition of a great teammate! I'm excited to see what the future holds for her as a Roadrunner!"

The San Antonio native is a three-time first-team all-academic honoree, three-time first-team all-district honoree, first-team all-area member and earned all-state accolades during her time at Brandeis. Her senior year, she was named district defensive MVP, TGBA Academic All-State, TABC All-Region and TGCA All-State. Parker also competed on the SA Finest Cee Lou club team.

"Her best basketball days are ahead," San Antonio's Finest AAU Club coach Ray Caldwell said. "I'm looking forward to seeing Lex grow as an integral part of this exciting future under the tutelage of UTSA's proven staff. Her willingness to do whatever is necessary for the sake of the team is a rarity today. Her energy and ability to compete will surely earn the respect of her teammates, staff and Roadrunner family!"
