SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA softball team returns home this weekend when it hosts Southern Miss for a three game series.
Friday night's first pitch is set for 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday will start at 1 p.m.
Scouting UTSA
UTSA enters the weekend 14-24 overall and 7-7 in conference action. The Roadrunners are coming off an 8-0 loss at Texas State on Tuesday and a doubleheader sweep at UAB on April 15.
Riley Grunberg leads the team with a .336 batting average. The senior has 25 runs, three doubles, 10 home runs, 26 RBIs and 72 total bases so far this season. Marena Estell continues to lead the team with 11 home runs and a 3.53 ERA. She has made 21 appearances with five starts and has pitched 67.1 innings with 34 strikeouts.
Scouting Southern Miss
Southern Miss comes into the series 26-16 overall and 6-9 in C-USA action. The Golden Eagles just swept UTEP April 14-16.
Destini Brown leads the squad with a .373 batting average. She has 41 runs, 47 hits, five doubles, five triples and seven home runs. In the circle, Morgan Leinstock leads with a 2.16 ERA. She's 17-6 on the season and has pitched 171.2 innings pitched with 138 strikeouts.
