MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The UTSA women's tennis team closed out the 2022 season in a 4-0 loss to Rice in the first round of the Conference USA Championship.
The Owls took an early lead winning the doubles. Alexandra Weir and Eva Beyebach dropped a 6-0 match at No. 3. At No. 1, Aleksandra Zlatarova and Stanislava Bobrovnikova lost a 6-3 match to their opponents.
In singles, Rice won the first match at No. 3 as Weir was defeated 6-2, 6-2 by her opponent. Sophie Omoworare was upended by her opponent, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 6. A 6-2, 6-2 loss by Jasmin Starr at No. 2 gave Rice the match win.
The Roadrunners finished the season 4-17. Starr led the team in singles with a 10-6 record, followed by Zlatarova with a 7-6 record. The duo of Omoworare and Starr finished the season 5-7, and the Bobrovnikova and Zlatarova duo posted an undefeated 4-0 record.
