Roadrunners top Lady Techsters to tie series

RUSTON, La. – Marena Estell recorded a three-run homer to help the Roadrunners defeat the Lady Techsters 6-5 in came two Saturday afternoon to tie the series.
 
Kat Ibarra opened the game with a single to left field. With one out, Riley Grunberg also singled to left field to put runners at first and second. Estell followed with a home run to right field to lead 3-0 early in the game. Emily Dear earned a walk, then advanced to second on a wild pitch. With two outs on the board, Erykah Guerrero singled up the middle, but Dear was tagged out at home to end the top of the frame.
 
The Roadrunners continued their momentum in the second. With one out, Ciarra Mata singled to left field and Ibarra followed with a single to right. Camryn Robillard hit a double deep to center field as Mata and Ibarra scored to lead 5-0. In the bottom of the frame, the Lady Techsters made it a two-run game from a double, a sac fly and a single to score three runs (5-3).
 
UTSA another a single run in the top of the third. With one out, Dear singled to left. Kaitlyn Morado grounded out as Dear made it to second. Guerrero reached first on an error, then advanced to second as Dear made it home to lead 6-3.
 
In the bottom of the fourth, LA Tech added another run from a wild pitch to make it 6-4.
 
Neither team scored a run in the fifth or the sixth.
 
The Lady Techsters scored run more run in the seventh to close the gap to one.
 
Tatum Seith earned with start, pitching 1.2 innings. Alexa Williams came in for 2.2 innings and recorded a strikeout. Marena Estell came in for three innings, had two strikeouts and earned the win. Jamie Gilbert game in for 0.1 innings to garner the save.
 
UTSA posted 10 hits on the day.
 
The Roadrunners and the Lady Techsters wrap up the series tomorrow at 1 p.m.
