WALNUT, Calif. — Maddie Boswell moved into UTSA's top-five performers list in the 10,000 meters to highlight Thursday action for the Roadrunners at the Mt. SAC Relays at Hilmer Lodge Stadium.
Boswell clocked a time of 34:31.11 for 10,000m to leap into the No. 4 spot on the program's all-tine performers list in the event, just ahead of former Olympian Liza Hunter-Galvan's top time of 34:47.4 posted in 1991. The senior transfer from Texas finished 14th overall and 11th among collegians in the Elite Division race late Thursday night, crossing just ahead of a pair of her former teammates Beth Ramos (34:34.44) and Monica Hebner (34:52.63).
Meanwhile, Lacee Barnes competed in a pair of throwing events to kick off action for the Roadrunners at the three-day meet on the West Coast. The senior from the Cayman Islands placed 22nd overall in a deep shot put field, measuring 14.88 meters (48-10) on her third and final attempt of the competition.
Barnes came back later in the afternoon to finish 22nd overall and 19th among collegiate competitions in the discus. The UTSA record holder launched the platter to a distance of 47.18m (154-9) on her second throw of the event, just ahead of Houston's Ryan Pickering (46.91m) and only one centimeter behind Oregon's Mine De Klerk (47.19m).
The Mt. SAC Relays will continue on Friday with several Roadrunners in action beginning with Acacia Astwood in the women's hammer throw at noon CT.
