Roadrunners top Cardinals for third consecutive win

SAN ANTONIO – Four singles wins fueled a 4-3 over Lamar on Sunday afternoon at the UTSA Tennis Center.

The Cardinals won the doubles point for a 1-0 lead heading into singles. Aleksandra Zlatarova and Stanislava Bobrovnikova won the only doubles point for UTSA with a 6-4 defeat of their opponents at No. 2. Jasmin Starr and Sophie Omoworare were topped 6-4 by their opponents at the No. 1 spot. At No. 3, Alexandra Weir and Eva Beyebach were beat 6-4.

Down one point, the Roadrunners won four of the six singles matches to clinch the victory. Zlatarova won her match at No. 1 with a 6-1, 6-0 defeat of her opponent. Starr claimed a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2. At the No. 5 spot, Beyebach won a 6-2, 6-2 match against her opponent. At No. 3, Weir dropped her first match 7-6 (4) but came back to win the final two sets, 6-1, 6-1, for the win.

The Roadrunners will return to the courts on Friday to face TCU at 2:30 p.m. in Fort Worth.
