SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA softball team hosts UIW tomorrow at 6 p.m. at Roadrunner Field.
Scouting UTSA
UTSA enters the game 12-22 overall and 5-7 in conference after falling 2-1 in the series against North Texas over the weekend.
Kat Ibarra leads the team in batting average with a .336. She has 28 runs from 36 hits, four doubles, three triples and five home runs. Riley Grunberg and Marena Estell continue to lead the team in home runs with nine each. In the circle, Alexa Williams leads with a 4.01 ERA. She has a 3-4 record and has pitched 50.2 innings with 36 strikeouts.
Scouting UIW
UIW comes into the matchup 12-26 overall and 3-6 in Southland Conference games. The Cardinals are coming off a 2-1 series loss to Houston Baptist.
Ryleigh Mata leads the team with a .379 batting average. She has 47 hits, six doubles and two triples. Maddie Boldt leads in home runs with nine. In the circle, Natalie Myers leads with a 3.69 ERA. She has pitched 43.2 innings with 34 strikeouts and a 3-3 record.
This will be the second time the two squads have faced each other this year. The Roadrunners defeated the Cardinals 11-5 on Feb. 20 at the Cardinal Invitational.
