Gonzalez tabbed C-USA Golfer of the Week

DALLAS — UTSA super senior Ana Gonzalez has been named Conference USA Women's Golfer of the Week for her performance in the Chattanooga Classic, the league office announced on Wednesday.

Gonzalez fired a 4-under-par 214 to grab a share of runner-up honors and lead UTSA to the Chattanooga Classic team title in dramatic fashion this week at Council Fire Golf Course. The super senior carded back-to-back rounds of 2-under 70 on the opening two days and then posted an even-par 72 that was highlighted by a hole-in-one on the par-3 17th hole that helped the Roadrunners rally past North Florida for the crown. A native of Monterrey, Mexico, the four-time all-conference performer registered 11 birdies for the week and improved her season scoring average to 73.6 while turning in her 13th career top-10 finish.

The tournament team title was the 15th in the history of the program and the seventh under fifth-year head coach Summer Batiste. It marked the first trophy for the Roadrunners since they won the 2020 Maryb S. Kauth Invitational a little more than two years ago.

This marks the fourth C-USA weekly award of her career, as she also was honored in 2017, 2019 and last fall.

The Roadrunners will host their annual home tournament — the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational — next Tuesday-Wednesday, April 5-6, at San Antonio Country Club. Admission is free for spectators.
