DALLAS — UTSA freshman Jemuel Miller has been named the Conference USA Outdoor Men's Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Fresh off a first-team All-America performance at the NCAA Indoor earlier this month, Jemuel Miller sailed to the top of the C-USA descending order list in the triple jump after his first competition of the outdoor season last Friday at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. The Bridgetown, Barbados, native skipped to a mark of 15.95 meters (52-4) to place fourth in the A section, just ahead of USC's Jalyn Jackson (15.72m). His mark moved him into the No. 2 spot on UTSA's all-performers list and it currently ranks sixth nationally.
After sweeping the men's honors last week and collecting one more this week, UTSA now boasts seven weekly awards in 2022. Ingeborg Gruenwald garnered back-to-back C-USA Indoor Women's Field Athlete of the Week certificates and Bashiru Abdullahi was tabbed C-USA Indoor Men's Track Athlete of the Week in January, while Trevion McCalla and Grant Szalek earned the men's plaudits one week ago.
UTSA will host the Roadrunner Invitational this Saturday, April 2, at Park West Athletics Complex. Field events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and the track events will start at 2 p.m. Admission and parking are free.
