SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men's tennis team claims a 4-0 win over Texas A&M- Corpus Christi on Wednesday at the UTSA Tennis Center.
"We had a great win today against a hard-working team." Head Coach Sergey Avdeyev said. "This win showcased our level of competitiveness. This makes me feel that we are prepared for the next challenge."
In singles, Tiago Torres (Lisbon, Portugal) claimed his 12th singles win of the season as he bested Matthieu Peres 6-4, 6-3 on court 2. This is Torres fourth consecutive win. Joao Ceolin (Palotina, Brazil) also improves on court 1, winning 6-0, 6-4 against Pascal Lorieul.
The Roadrunners secured the doubles point as Ceolin and Javier Rodriguez (San Fernando, Chile) claimed a 6-1 victory on court 1. Also, Sebastian Rodriguez (Trujillo, Peru) and Torres posted a 6-1 win on court 2, as they improve to 9-2 overall.
UTSA (9-7) is now ranked No. 68 according to the ITA rankings released Wednesday afternoon.
The Roadrunners will be back in action on Sunday as they travel to College Station to face No. 25 Texas A&M at 6 p.m.
