A ninth inning walkoff RBI fuels a 3-2 Baylor win

WACO – UTSA fell to Baylor Tuesday night 3-2, as the Bears scored a game-winning run on a walkoff RBI in the bottom of the ninth inning.
   
After taking a 2-1 lead in the top of the second inning, UTSA (12-8, 1-2 C-USA) would hold the lead until the bottom of the ninth. In the bottom of the ninth, Baylor (11-9, 1-2 Big 12) was able to tie the game off a fielding error. With one out and bases loaded, Jack Pineda was walked to score Jacob Schoenvogel for a one-run win.
Shane Sirdashney and Matt King recorded the two UTSA runs at Baylor Ballpark. This marks the 12th run scored by Sirdashney this season. Jonathan Tapia's walk to score King was his 11th that he had drawn this season.

The Roadrunners started freshman Ryan Beaird who worked 1.2 innings and allowed no runs on two hits with one strikeout on 39 pitches. Fischer Kingsbery came in to relieve Beaird, pitching one inning and allowing one run off one hit with one strikeout on 19 pitches. Daniel Shafer came in during the third inning and worked into the sixth, tossing a hitless fourth inning, allowing only one hit and six strikeouts.

Coming out of the bullpen in the sixth, Jacob Jimenez threw two hitless innings with three strikeouts. Coming onto the mound late in the eighth, lefty Grant Miller worked 0.2 innings, allowing one hit with a pair of strikeouts on 12 pitches. Simon Miller entered the game in the bottom of the eighth to close the game. Miller got the final out of the eighth and first of the ninth but then allowed two runs on no hits. The UTSA pitchers were able to force the Bears into the most strikeouts they've had in a game this season.

Baylor starter Mason Marriott worked 1.1 innings, allowed two runs, struck out one and walked three Roadrunners on 42 pitches. Grant Golomb took over in relief for Marriott in the second. He threw 2.2 innings, allowed one hit, walked three and struck out one. Adam Murihead was called from the bullpen in the top of the fourth to pitch two innings. Murihead recorded one strikeout on 26 pitches. Brett Garcia relieved him in the seventh for a one-inning showing where he allowed two hits on 22 pitches. In for the save in the eighth, Jake Jackson worked 1.2 innings. He allowed a pair of hits with one strikeout on his 21 pitches.

A Garrett Poston single with bases loaded in the top of the second sent Sirdashney home to give the Roadrunners an early lead. Tapia stepped to the plate next and was walked for an RBI as King crossed home plate.

The Bears got on the board in the bottom of the third with a sac fly to right field to trail 2-1.

Both teams went scoreless until the bottom of the ninth. With one out, Cassen Neumann reached on an error by first base as Nolan Rodriguez crossed home plate to tie the game 2-2. With bases loaded, Pineda was walked to record a walkoff RBI as Baylor took the final lead, 3-2.
