UTSA travels to Houston to face off with HBU

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA (10-5) will travel to Houston on Tuesday for a midweek game against the Houston Baptist Huskies (6-11).

The two schools will be meeting for the 18th time when they meet on Tuesday. UTSA holds the all-time advantage against Houston Baptist, posting a 13-4 record. The Roadrunners are 5-1 in games played in Houston against the Huskies.

The game against the Huskies will be followed up with the start of conference play later this week as Louisiana Tech will come to San Antonio.

The Roadrunners are coming off a weekend series in Norman, Okla. where they were swept by the Oklahoma Sooners.

The weekend series began Saturday, as Friday's game was moved to Sunday thanks to a March snow in Norman. In Saturday's game, UTSA used an Ian Bailey solo homer in the top of the first to take an early 1-0 lead, but that would be the last time the Roadrunners would lead in the series. UTSA dropped game one to OU, 10-5.

The second and third games were played in a doubleheader format on Sunday with game one beginning at noon. Oklahoma got up early and never let go in Saturday's game one, as the Sooners held UTSA scoreless until the eighth inning and won 8-3.

The second part of Sunday's doubleheader featured more of the same as Oklahoma had another stellar pitching performance. The Roadrunners were able to again find success late once OU's pitcher was pulled, but it was too little, too late as the rally fell short as Oklahoma completed the sweep winning 9-5.

Houston Baptist is 6-11 on the season and has played a myriad of solid opponents, including Texas A&M, then-no. 23 Sacramento State, Louisiana Tech (UTSA's next opponent), Rice, Baylor and Rutgers. The Huskies are battle-tested and will provide the Roadrunners a tough opponent as conference play looms.
