Roadrunners take on Texas State on Tuesday in San Marcos

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA softball team is set to take on Texas State on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in San Marcos.
 
Scouting UTSA
The Roadrunners enter the contest 7-14 overall and 2-1 in conference after opening the C-USA slate with a 2-1 series win at UTEP.
 
The Miners won the first game with a walk off sac fly, but UTSA was victorious in the final two games to clinch the series. Kat Ibarra and Marena Estell led the team with a .500 batting average. Ibarra recorded four runs on six hits and a solo home run. She also had two RBIs and 11 total bases. Estell posted two runs on four hits and two homers, along with five RBIs and 10 total bases.
 
Alexa Williams led the team in the circle with a 2.25 ERA, pitching 4.0 innings with two strikeouts.
 
For the season, Ibarra leads the team with a .361 batting avg. The sophomore has 20 runs on 22 hits, two doubles, three triples and four home runs. Estell leads in the circle with a 4.68 ERA. She has a 2-5 record with 11 appearances and has pitched 42.1 innings with 21 strikeouts.
 
Scouting Texas State
Texas State comes into the game 12-9 overall and 1-2 in Sun Belt action. The Bobcats won their first game against Appalachian State 5-0, but fell in the final two games of the series.
 
Samara Lagway leads the team with a .314 batting average. Lagway and Dani Elder each have four home runs on the season and 11 hits. Jessica Mullins leads the pitchers with a 2.59 ERA and a 7-6 record. She has pitched 70.1 innings with 84 strikeouts.
