UTSA great Keaton Wallace lighting up G-League

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA men's basketball legend Keaton Wallace had 14 points, six assists and three rebounds in his return to San Antonio on Tuesday, helping lead his NBA G-League Agua Caliente Clippers to a 124-118 win over the Austin Spurs in a game played at San Antonio's AT&T Center. 
 
Wallace, a product of Dallas' Richardson High School, is having a monster rookie season for the Clippers affiliate in the NBA G-League. He averages 19 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.6 steals per game through his first 22 professional games. Wallace is shooting 50.6 percent from the field, 47 percent from 3-point range and 83 percent from the foul line. 
 
Wallace ranks among the top-40 in five categories in the NBA G-League in 2021-22, including ranking fifth in 3-point percentage, ninth in offensive rating, 28th in steals per game, 34th in points per game and 39th in assists per game.

A 6-foot-3 guard, Wallace starred for the Roadrunners for four years, ending his career as the second all-time leading scorer in program history. He scored 2,080 points in his UTSA career, ranking 428th in college basketball history and sixth in Conference USA history. As a senior, Wallace averaged 16.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists a game, averaged 18.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per game as a junior, and 20.2 points and 5.0 rebounds per game as a sophomore. Wallace was named to the C-USA Freshman Team in 2017-18 with 11.4 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. 
 
He ranks second in UTSA history in scoring, seventh in scoring average (16.8), third in games played (125), fourth in starts (109), third in free-throw percentage (80.6), seventh in free-throws made (304), seconds in field goals (715), ninth in rebounds (554) and sixth in assists (355). Combined with his backcourt running mate Jhivvan Jackson for four years, the duo ranked as the second most prolific scoring duo of any recruiting class in NCAA history, behind just Duke's Johnny Dawkins and Mark Alaire (1982-83). 
 
Wallace was an all-conference selection in all four seasons, was a two-time NABC All-District selection and a five-time C-USA Player of the Week. One of his most memorable games came in a 45-point outing to lead UTSA to a win over Marshall as a sophomore in Huntington, W.Va.
