UTSA falls to Houston 6-1

HOUSTON, Texas – The UTSA women's tennis team was topped by the Houston Cougars Sunday afternoon at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility.

The Cougars won the doubles point with two back-to-back wins. Stanislava Bobrovnikova and Eva Beyebach dropped their match 6-3 at No. 3. At No. 2, Jasmin Starr and Keegan McCain fell to their opponent in a close 6-4 match to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead.

In singles, Sophie Omoworare lost a 6-2 first set and a close 6-4 second set to her opponent at No. 5. Bobrovnikova dropped a tie breaker 7-5 first set followed by a 6-2 second set defeat at No. 3. At No. 4, Beyebach was topped by her opponent 6-1, 6-4. Starr claimed the only win for the Roadrunners in a two-set victory, 6-3, 7-5. Aleksandra Zlatarova forced her opponent to a third set after a 6-2 winning first set and a 6-2 second set loss. Zlatarova was topped 6-4 in the final set of her match as the Cougars won the match 6-1.

The Roadrunners will be back in action March 4 at the UTSA Tennis Center to host Louisiana Tech at 1 p.m.
