HOUSTON, Texas – The UTSA women's tennis team was upended by Rice on Friday afternoon at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.
The Owls grabbed an early start in the doubles matches. At No. 1, Aleksandra Zlatarova and Sophie Omoworare dropped their match to their opponents, 6-2. Stanislava Bobrovnikova and Eva Beyebach fell 6-2 at No. 2 to give the Owls a 1-0 lead moving into singles play.
Rice claimed four back-to-back matches to take the 5-0 win. Omoworare was defeated 6-1, 6-1 by her opponent at No. 5. At No. 2, Jasmin Starr fell in two sets, 6-2, 6-1. Beyebach was defeated by her opponent at No. 4, 6-1, 6-1.
The Roadrunners will be back in action Saturdays at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility to face Houston at 1 p.m.
