Roadrunners rally from behind to claim home opener

SAN ANTONIO -- Shane Sirdashney drove in two key runs and Reece Easterling worked two shutout innings in relief, leading UTSA baseball to a 7-3 win in seven innings over Seattle in its home opener, on a chilly Friday evening at Roadrunner Field.

UTSA (3-1) posted the win over Seattle (1-4) by rallying from a three-run hole to score seven unanswered runs over the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.

Sirdashney went 2 for 2 at the plate to lead the Roadrunners offensive attack, one of three Roadrunners to collect two hits in the win. Leyton Barry and Ian Bailey also chipped in two hits each.

Easterling (1-0) earned the win with the final two innings in relief, allowing just two walks and striking out three. Jacob Jimenez worked 2.2 innings in the start, allowing one earned run, while freshman Ryan Beaird tossed 2.1 shutout innings to keep UTSA in the game.

Seattle starter Nestor German (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing four runs on 5.1 innings, walking one and stirking out two.

The series will resume with a nine-game at 5 p.m. on Friday night at Roadrunner Field, live on CUSA TV.
