Roadrunners wrap up road schedule at Louisiana Tech on Saturday

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Coming off an electric road win on Thusday night, UTSA men's basketball will wrap up its road slate with a 6 p.m. matchup at Louisiana Tech on Saturday at the Thomas Assembly Center. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+, with Chris Mycoskie (play-by-play) and Teddy Allen (analyst) calling the action, and live on Ticket 760 AM with the Voice of the Roadrunners, Andy Everett, calling the game. 
 
The Roadrunners posted a thrilling win on Thursday in Hattiesburg, the first win at Southern Miss in program history. UTSA rallied in overtime to outscore Southern Miss 22-3 in overtime, including an 8 of 8 showing from the field in extra time to secure the win. UTSA got 26 points and 10 rebounds from Dhieu Deing, a career-best 21 point outburst from Isaiah Addo-Ankrah, and the first points-assists double-double for a UTSA player since 2018-19 as Erik Czumbel had a career-high in points (16) and assists (11). 
 
UTSA (9-18, 2-12 Conference USA) averages 67.9 points, 39.5 rebounds, 11.5 assists, 5.6 steals and 2.8 blocks per game as a team in 2021-22, shooting 39 percent from the field and 29.1 percent from 3-point range. Opponents are scoring 72.3 points per game, with a 45.4 percent clip from the field and a 36 percent mark from deep. 
 
The Roadrunners have been led in scoring by sophomore Jordan Ivy-Curry, who averages 14.6 points and 2.5 rebounds per game. Junior center Jacob Germany averages 14.5 points and 7.1 rebounds per game, shooting 48 percent from the field. Dhieu Deing chips in 14.3 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. Senior guard Darius McNeill averages 6.6 points and 2.5 rebounds per game. 
 
Louisiana Tech (18-7, 9-4 C-USA) opened the conference schedule with six straight wins before falling vs. 20-win UAB on Jan. 22. The Bulldogs have lost three of their last five games and are coming off a 63-60 loss vs. UTEP in Ruston on Thursday. LA Tech also owns losses to UNT and FAU in league play, with non-conference losses at Alabama, NC State and vs. LSU. 
 
The Bulldogs average 77.6 points, 36.6 rebounds, 14.8 assists, 6.8 steals and 2.2 blocks per game as a team, shooting 45.8 percent and 34.4 percent from 3-point range. Opponents are shooting 41.5 percent and 34.2 percent from deep, scoring 68.9 points per game. 
 
Big-bodied forward Kenneth Lofton Jr. averages 17.1 points and 10.9 rebounds per game to lead the team, playing just 26.8 minutes per game with a 63-65 assist-turnover ratio. Amoria Archibald averages 13.6 points and 3.7 rebounds per game, while Keaton Willis chips in 11.6 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. Cobe Williams has started all 25 games and averages 10.8 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. 
 
The Bulldogs lead the all-time series with UTSA, 15-7, including a 6-2 mark in games played in Ruston. The Bulldogs have won three straight in the series, including a 79-63 win in San Antonio on Jan. 8. UTSA last won in 2017-18 in Ruston 78-76. In the meeting vs. UTSA early in the year, Louisiana Tech owned a 40-26 lead at halftime and held off a charge from the Roadrunners in the second half to post a 16-point win. UTSA got 22 points from Jordan Ivy-Curry and 17 points and 13 rebounds from Jacob Germany. Lamin Sabally chipped in 10 points on a pair of 3-pointers. UTSA shot 42.4 percent while LA Tech was 48.4 percent from the field and 14 of 28 from deep. Amorie Archibald had 31 points to lead the Bulldogs, with Kenneth Lofton Jr. going for 12 points and 16 boards in 27 minutes.
