SAN ANTONIO – UTSA outside linebacker Clarence Hicks will participate in the NFLPA Bowl, set for Jan. 29 in Pasadena, Calif., on the NFL Network.
A native of Pensacola, Fla., Hicks had a prolific season in his final year as a Roadrunner in 2021, shattering the UTSA single-season record for sacks with 10.5. He totaled 37 tackles, including 16.5 tackles for a loss, adding six quarterback hurries, two pass break-ups, one interception and a forced fumble. He finished the year ranked No. 21 nationally and first in Conference USA in sacks.
In his 38-game UTSA career, Hicks totaled 108 tackles, including 31 behind the line of scrimmage, with 12.5 sacks, five pass break-ups, three forced fumbles and two interceptions.
He earned first-team All-Conference USA honors in 2021 while helping leading the Roadrunners to a school-record 12 wins, a second consecutive bowl berth and the first conference championship in program history.
Hicks is the third Roadrunner to be slated to play in a postseason bowl game, as offensive lineman Spencer Burford and cornerback Tariq Woolen are each slated to play in the Reese's Senior Bowl, scheduled for Feb. 5 in Mobile, Ala., live on the NFL Network.
