Andrew Keene joins UTSA men's tennis

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men's tennis team has added Michigan State transfer Andrew Keene to the 2022 signing class, it was announced by head coach Sergey Avdeyev on Wednesday.

"We are happy that Andrew is coming back to Texas and that he decided to join our team," Avdeyev said. "Andrew has two years of college tennis experience against tough competition in the Big 10 Conference. I think he will be a big help to our team this year."

A native of Corpus Christi, Texas, and a product of Veteran Memorial High School, Keene played the last three years at Michigan State, seeing time on line 1 and 2 in doubles and on line 4 and 5 in singles.

Last year, Keene earned three singles wins, all coming in Big 10 play and combined to claim five singles matches, second-best on the team.

In 2019-20 as a freshman, Keene posted three wins in singles and went 4-5 in doubles, including a 3-3 mark on line 2.

A former team captain at Veteran Memorial High School, Keene placed third in the Class 5A Texas State Championships as a freshman.
