UTSA unveils 2022 indoor and outdoor schedules

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA track & field program on Tuesday unveiled the 2022 indoor and outdoor schedules highlighted by three home meets, including the 2022 Conference USA Outdoor Championships.

The Roadrunners will open their 14th season under the leadership of Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Aaron Fox on Jan. 14-15 when they travel to College Station for the Ted Nelson Invitational.

UTSA will return to Aggieland on Jan. 22 for the Texas Aggie Invitational before heading to the Houston Invitational on Jan. 28-29.

The Roadrunners will compete in the Charlie Thomas Invitational on Feb. 4-5 in College Station in their final tune-up for the C-USA Indoor Championships, which are set for Feb. 19-20 in Birmingham, Ala. The NCAA Indoor Championships also are slated for Birmingham on March 11-12.

The outdoor campaign will get underway on March 18-19 with the UTSA Invitational, the first of a trio of home meets at Park West Athletics Complex.

UTSA will make the short drive up I-35 to Austin for the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on March 23-26 before returning home to host the Roadrunner Invitational on April 1-2 at Park West.

The rest of the April slate includes another visit to College Station for the Texas A&M Team Invitational on April 8-9, a flight to Walnut, Calif., for the Mt. SAC Relays on April 14-16, and then short treks to Houston for the J. Fred Duckett Twilight on April 23 and to College Station for the Alumni Muster the following Saturday.

The Roadrunners will host the C-USA Outdoor Championships for the first time in their history on May 12-15 at Park West. UTSA originally was lined up to host the league's outdoor meet in 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic canceled the outdoor season.

The NCAA West Preliminary Round is scheduled for May 25-28 in Fayetteville, Ark., and the NCAA Outdoor Championships will be held on Jun 8-11 in Eugene. Ore.
