SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men's basketball coaching staff will wear Coaches vs. Cancer polo shirts and will don hand-painted sneakers on Thursday and Saturday in support of the American Cancer Society's fight against cancer.
The Roadrunners will participate in the Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers Week, benefiting the American Cancer Society. UTSA head coach Steve Henson and his staff will be wearing the specially designed polo shirt to raise awareness, while also wearing hand-painted sneakers for the Thursday and Saturday games.
The coaching staff had their children and grandchildren hand paint designs and art on their sneakers on Monday night in their offices and will wear the shoes in the game against FIU on Thursday and FAU on Saturday.
Henson's grandson, West, associate head coach Mike Peck's son Gavin, assistant coach Adam Hood's son Dallas, and assistant coach Scott Thompson's daughter Brett joined the coaches in their offices on Monday night to decorate their father's shoes for the week.
