SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's basketball team will be hosting a two-game series this week in the Convocation Center. The Roadrunners will be facing Old Dominion at 7 p.m. on Jan. 13 before a matchup against Charlotte on Jan. 15 at 2 p.m.
The Roadrunners start the week 4-9 overall and 1-1 in conference after a 68-60 overtime home win against UAB on Jan. 1.
LaPraisjah Johnson leads the Roadrunners in scoring with 140 points this season, averaging 10.8 points per game. Queen Ulabo continues to lead in the paint with 76 rebounds, tallying 43 defensive and 33 offensive boards. Jadyn Pimentel fuels the offense with a team-leading 35 assists and 37 steals. Elyssa Coleman creates a strong defensive force with a season-leading 10 blocks.
Scouting Old Dominion
The Monarchs come to the Alamo City 10-2 after a 71-68 win over Temple. This matchup will be the first conference game for Old Dominion.
Ajah Wayne leads ODU in scoring with 180 points this season. Iggy Allen leads the team with 100 rebounds, recording 30 offensive and 70 defensive boards. Mariah Adams has contributed a team-high 40 assists this season and Kaye Clark leads with 30 steals.
Scouting Charlotte
The 49ers enter the Convocation Center 4-6 after a 79-65 loss to Davidson. Charlotte will play its first conference game of the season at UTEP on Thursday before coming to San Antonio.
Octavia Jett-Wilson leads the offense with 174 points this season, averaging 17.4 per game. KeKe McKinney holds the team-leading 71 boards this season. McKinney has contributed 13 blocks to the defensive front this season. Jada McMillian fuels the offense with a season-leading 49 assists. Mikayla Boykin holds the team-high 23 swipes this season, averaging 2.3 steals per game.
Last Meeting
Against Old Dominion: This marks the 11th all-time meeting between the two teams. Old Dominion leads the series 6-4 after a 62-43 win on Feb. 6, 2020.
Against Charlotte: The 49ers lead the series with the Roadrunners 6-1 in the eighth all-time meeting. Charlotte clenched a 66-54 win in the last meeting with UTSA on Jan. 24, 2019.
