UTSA Summer Baseball Tracker

SAN ANTONIO – A total of 14 returning UTSA baseball standouts are currently competing in summer collegiate leagues across the country. 
 
Nine Roadrunners are playing in the Texas Collegiate League – including two with the hometown San Antonio Chanclas – while four are suiting up in the California Collegiate League. 
 
Ian Bailey – San Antonio Chanclas – Texas Collegiate League
2021: Played in 30 games with 28 starts, batting .270 (30-for-111) with four doubles, six homers and 21 RBI, stealing three bases. 
Summer: Has cranked a homer with three doubles in 11 games and 40 at-bats, driving in eight and stealing two bases. 
 
Austin Brewer – Jefferson City Renegades – MINK League
2021: redshirted season. 
Summer: has appeared in five games in relief with a 1-0 record, a save and a 1.92 ERA for the Renegades … has fanned 17, walked only four and allowed just six hits in 9.1 innings. 
 
John Chomko – Arroyo Seco Saints – California Collegiate League
2021: Appeared in 13 games with four starts, owning an 0-2 record and a 4.31 ERA with a save … worked 31.1 innings, allowing 25 hits and 15 walks, striking out 29. 
Summer: Has worked a pair of shutout innings in relief for the Saints, striking out four. 
 
Reece Easterling – Victoria Generals – Texas Collegiate League
2021: Worked in nine games with five starts in 2021, owning a 5.65 ERA in 28.2 innings, allowing 41 hits and eight walks, striking out 22. 
Summer: Has made three starts with an 0-1 record and a 4.84 ERA for the Generals …. Has worked 13 innings, allowing 11 hits and nine walks, striking out 11. 
 
Daniel Garza – Walnut Creek – California Collegiate League
2021: Worked in 13 games in relief with a 1-2 record and a 5.16 ERA … tossed 22.2 innings, allowing 22 hits and 14 walks, striking out 23. 
Summer: Has worked three games in relief for the Crawdads, owning a save in 6.2 innings, striking gout 10 and walking just three. 
 
Luke Malone – San Antonio Chanclas – Texas Collegiate League
2021: Went 2-2 with a 6.41 ERA in 17 games and seven starts in 2021, working 46.1 innings, allowing 55 hits and 21 walks, striking out 35. 
Summer: Is 1-1 with a 2.40 ERA through three starts, tossing 15 innings with 15 striekouts and five walks. 
 
Simon Miller – Brazzos Valley – Texas Collegiate League
2021: Worked in 10 games with seven starts in his UTSA debut, owning a 3-1 record and a 6.90 ERA, walking 21 and striking out 21 in 30 innings. 
Summer: Made two starts for the Bombers with a 0-1 record and a 10.80 ERA, striking out four in 3.1 innings. 
 
Austin Ochoa – Victoria Generals – Texas Collegiate League
2021: Batted .224 (17-for-76) with 21 runs, five doubles, two homers and 13 RBI in his collegiate debut, appearing in 26 games with 21 starts … had seven walks and stole a base. 
Summer: Has hit .233 through 13 games with three doubles and six RBI. 
 
Chris Shull – Brazzos Valley – Texas Collegiate League
2021: Cranked a pair of homers in 10 games in his collegiate debut, totaling five hits in 26 at-bats, with five RBI, five walks. 
Summer: Has hit .333 through four games with three RBI and a pair of walks … has appeared in three games in relief, not allowing a run in 4.1 innings, striking out seven with just two hits and two walks allowed. 
 
Kyle Sonduck – Arroyo Seco Saints – California Collegiate League
2021: Appeared in 10 games with two starts in 2021 with 10.1 innings pitched, allowing 13 hits and four walks, striking out nine.
Summer: Has a win in his lone relief outing, working 1.2 innings with two strikeouts and no hits allowed vs. the SD Force. 
 
Jay Ward – Acadiana Cane Cutters – Texas Collegiate League
2021: Appeared in 13 games with a 6.75 ERA in 9.1 innings, allowing 10 hits and seven walks, striking out 10. 
Summer: Has worked in four games in relief, striking ut 11 with just a walk and nine hits allowed over 8.1 innings, sporting a 3.24 ERA. 
 
Ryan Ward – San Luis Obispo Blues – California Collegiate League
2021: Worked in seven games with two starts in his collegiate debut, going 0-3 with a 9.98 ERA in 15.1 innings, allowing 19 hits and 16 walks, striking out 14. 
Summer: Has posted a 1.80 ERA through three relief outings, working five innings, allowing just five hits and three walks, striking out six.
