Volleyball ventures to face LA Tech on Sunday, Monday

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA volleyball team will return to action with a pair of matches at Louisiana Tech, starting on Sunday at 1 p.m. and concluding on Monday at 12 p.m. at the Thomas Assembly Center. Both matches will be broadcast live on CUSA TV. 
 
UTSA (3-9, 1-5 C-USA) will face off with Louisiana Tech (1-13, 0-6 Conference USA) in a pair of matches in league play. UTSA has just six regular-season matches left in the 2020-21 season hosting Southern Miss (March 14-15) and traveling to face UAB (March 21-22). 
 
Louisiana Tech is coming off its first win of the year, a three-set sweep over neighbor Grambling State on Thursday. 
 
UTSA owns a 10-2 all-time record against LA Tech, most recently claiming a 2019 four-set win in San Antonio.
 
The Roadrunners have averaged 12.1 kills, 11.4 assists, 1.2 aces, 15.3 digs and 1.6 blocks per set as a team in 2020-21. UTSA has wins over UTRGV, UIW and North Texas, with the Mean Green posting a win over Oklahoma this week. UTSA has hit .184 as a team, with foes hitting .255. 
 
Sophomore setter Courtney Walters leads the team with 9.24 assists per set, with libero Mia Ybarra leading the team with 4.9 digs per set. Bianca Ejesieme (2.3), Kirby Smith (2.46), Hunter Coppola (2.76) and Amanda Ifeanyi (2.33) each average at least two kills per set.
