Roadrunners topped by No. 23 Texas A&M

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The UTSA women's basketball team dropped a 77-51 decision to No. 23 Texas A&M Monday afternoon at Reed Arena to close out non-conference play.
 
The Aggies opened the game on a 5-0 run to take an early lead. Elena Blanding scored the first points for the Roadrunners at the 6:43 mark, but Texas A&M followed with a 13-0 run to lead 18-2 with 3:14 remaining. Back-to-back shots from Ceyenne Mass and Jadyn Pimentel bridged the gap to 12 (18-6). The Aggies closed out the final minute with a 4-2 run to lead 22-8.
 
In the second, the teams battled it out as each had scored seven points at the 7:15 mark. Texas A&M then hit a 6-0 run to extend the lead (32-14) once again. For a two-minute span, the Roadrunners and the Aggies battled again scoring six each. TAMU finished the quarter on an 8-2 run to lead 44-22 at the half.
 
The Roadrunners came out of the locker on a scoring surge as they opened the third on an 8-0 run to close the gap to 14 (44-30). By the 4:40 mark, UTSA had outscored the Aggies 16-6 to trail 50-35, then hit a 9-0 run to come within seven (51-44). Texas A&M rallied and hit a 7-0 run to extend push the lead back to 14 (58-44) at the buzzer.
 
In the fourth, the Aggies opened on a five point scoring run to lead 63-41 at the 8:19 mark. Jadyn Pimentel hit a 3-pointer with 6:56 remaining, but two 5-0 runs from Texas A&M extended the lead (62-48) to garner the game.

The Roadrunners returnn to the court Dec. 30 when they host Middle Tennessee to open C-USA action.
